“‘Cannonball’ carries a sound reminiscent of grunge’s glory days, but at the same time produces a fresh, poppy drive… The song’s sinister vibe possesses a certain Queens of The Stone Age poise.”

January 10th – Baltimore, MD – Alternative rock quartet, Diamond Youth, have launched the pre-order for their upcoming EP, “Orange” and premiered the music video for “Cannonball” today. Watch the new video and pre-order Orange via Topshelf Records, here: tpshlf.co/dmndyth. Special packages are also available for order. Orange will be released on February 5th.
Orange, recorded by Brian Mcternan (Circa Survive, Hot Water Music, The Movielife) is the follow up to the band’s well-received official debut, Don’t Lose Your Cool, recorded by Paul Leavitt (Circa Survive, All Time Low). In support of the upcoming release, Diamond Youth recently shared the stage for a string of shows with AWOLNATION, Braid, Into It. Over It., and Cut Teeth. Diamond Youth will be playing a special album release show on January 19th at Charm City Art Space in Baltimore, MD with Turnover, Koji, The Here & Now, and Have Mercy. Ticket holders to the release show will receive an advance copy of Orange.
Despite the varying musical tastes of each member in Diamond Youth, they all share a very common back catalogue of bands who have inspired and defined their developing years as budding artists. From Weezer to Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and all the way back to the Beach Boys, the influence these bands had on Diamond Youth is ever-apparent in the music they write.
On the making of the music video for “Cannonball,” guitarist Sam Trapkin says, “Strange things happen when you decide to film a stop-motion animated music video in the freezing cold for three days straight.”
