ALBUM REVIEW: Ballyhoo | Pineapple Grenade

East Coast reggae infused punk rockers Ballyhoo! just released their fifth studio album, “Pineapple Grenade“, through their newly founded personal label Right Coast Records on June 25, 2013.  “Pineapple Grenade” is Ballyhoo’s follow up to their last release “Daydreams” in 2011.  With “Pineapple Grenade” it is a much more personal and relaxed album in comparison to the more upbeat anthems present on “Daydreams“.  This is certainly not a bad thing by any means.  Ballyhoo! really took their time when writing “Pineapple Grenade” spending six months working on the album finely crafting every aspect of it.

Ballyhoo! did an excellent job of including their fans throughout the entire process of writing and recording the album.  Back in the spring Ballyhoo! started the Hardcore Hooligans program.  Basically for those fans who were wise enough to pre-order the album back when the promotion was running they were given exclusive access to in studio updates, live chats, and more direct insight from the band.  Along with “Pineapple Grenade,“ Hardcore Hooligans received a complete package bundle that included, a variety of collectibles, and fans were then given access to the album weeks before it was officially released.  This was certainly a great deal and unique promotional model that more bands could learn from as a great method for connecting with their fans on a much deeper and personal level.
