ALBUM REVIEW: Motionless In White | Reincarnate

The notorious horror themed rockers Motionless In White are at it again with their third studio album “Reincarnate” out yesterday, Tuesday, September 16, 2014, on Fearless Records. From the moment “Reincarnate begins it becomes blatantly obvious that Motionless In White have truly created their own niche, and nailed it with this album. It seems as if musically everything has finally come full circle as “Reincarnate” showcases the true musical talent and diversity that is Motionless In White. Front man Chris Motionless holds nothing back on this album which allows listeners to really get a taste of his dynamic vocal range from Marilyn Manson sounding soft and eerie whispers to fierce and primal screams at will and without warning. Motionless wide array of vocal prowess is just the tip of the iceberg for what “Reincarnate” offers fans.

With “ReincarnateMotionless In White have created an album that truly defines who they are. Front man Chris Motionless has been very open about the album’s recording stating “The time frame worked against me, and there was an inner conflict going on trying to move into a different style of music and making a lot of mistakes as I went. ‘Reincarnate’ will contain the aggressiveness that ‘Creatures’ had which ‘Infamous’ lacked in and will also have a more consistent style.” Motionless holds true to his words as the group’s third full length studio album delivers just that and so much more. Guitarists Ricky Horror and Ryan Sitkowski along with bassist Devin “Ghost” Sola deliver headbanging rhythms throughout the upbeat and heavy anthems while providing the eerie foundations for the album’s darker and slower moments. All the while keyboard and synthesizer operator Josh Balz keeps the intensity alive and present throughout the album with an ever changing repertoire of industrial and goth inspired beats.

With the departure of their last drummer, Brandon Richter, Motionless In White have not said a whole lot in regards to who laid down the drum tracks for the album, or who they will have touring with them. Front man Chris Motionless has stated “For those asking who is playing drums for us, we are just going to be touring with a drummer from now on and remaining a five piece band. Lastly, the drums for ‘Reincarnate’ were performed and recorded by a close friend. You’ll find out when the album comes out. All is well!” Despite being a bit cryptic in regards to the drummer’s true identity, the drum tracks on “Reincarnate” deliver a hard and heavy rhythmic fury laying down the foundation that drives the album from start to finish.

Regardless of any hang ups they may have encountered along the way, Motionless In White have found their true sound and style and never has that been more apparent such as it is with “Reincarnate”. The guys have truly come into their own and for anyone that has ever doubted them or wrote them off in the past, they will be quick to second guess themselves this time around. “Reincarnate” showcases a group that is set to take the music scene by storm and most likely reinvent what is currently the “in” sound as a plethora of doppelgangers will be sure to try and emulate Motionless In White more so than they already have. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery and in the end it will only serve as greater motivation for Motionless In White to further diversify themselves musically and show the world what they are truly made of.

Motionless In White’s third album “Reincarnate” on Fearless Records is out today, September 16, 2014, in both digital and physical formats. As a bonus there are three guest appearances on the album including Maria Brink of In This Moment, Tim Skold formerly of KMFDM and Marilyn Manson, and also Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth all lending their musical talents. The cameos all contribute greatly to intensifying the musical diversity that makes up “Reincarnate”. At the same time however it certainly leaves many fans wondering when the day will come that the Antichrist Superstar himself, Marilyn Manson, will begin to take notice and lend his world renowned voice and talents. It is seemingly only a matter of time before these two collaborate together and the sky is the limit at that point.
