Hot For Skippy
Since January of 2008, Hot For Skippy have been perfecting their style of forward-thinking technical, melodic, and progressive metal. Based out of Westmont, IL, they aim to break free from many of the stifling cliches of the genre. Guitarists Victor Poelman and Jay Alvear, bassist Adam McLinn, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Derek Garcia, drummer Wayne Pombert II, and vocalist Stefan Stolarik each bring over 5 years of experience at his instrument and a broad spectrum of influences. They currently have one self-released EP entitled O.C.D., released in March of 2010, and have a full-length album in the works for 2012.
Hot For Skippy began after the disbanding of Ater Atra Atrum, a band in which Stefan, Victor, and Wayne first played together. Jay joined in January of ’08 and they immediately began writing songs and played their first show in the spring. Over the first two years as a band they won multiple local ‘battle of the bands’ competitions, and played shows in Wisconsin, Indiana, Missouri, and Ohio. 2011 saw the addition of Adam and Derek which solidified the line-up. They have since gone on to share the stage with national acts such as Born of Osiris (Sumerian Records), Veil of Maya (Sumerian Records), It Dies Today (Trustkill Records),The Breathing Process (Candlelight Records), Arsonists Get All the Girls (Century Media), Carnifex (Victory Records), Within the Ruins (Victory Records), Betraying the Martyrs (Sumerian Records), and The Destro (Metal Blade Records).
The as of yet untitled full-length is currently being recorded at V.I. Studios in the Chicagoland area with an expected release time of early summer. Between now and then, Hot For Skippy will continue to put on intense live shows in the Midwest and tour in support of the release once it is finished.
